Souper Bowl 2018 raises more than $13,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

Employees from Kaplan Professional Education, LHI, River Rocks, Riverside Corporate Wellness, SAP Americas, and The Waterfront Restaurant and Tavern, hosted Souper Bowl 2018, a tailgate-themed celebration to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals on January 25 at the La Crosse Center. The Super Bowl-inspired fundraiser, now in its 15th year, raised more than $13,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®.

“We are grateful for the support of the Souper Bowl event from LHI, Kaplan, SAP, friends, family and community,” said Heather Gilles, Associate Director of Development of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Support from this event means families may receive financial support for transportation, meal vouchers, specialized medical equipment, or whatever is needed to allow them to focus on what matters most—their child’s health.”

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Hero, eight-year-old Justus Heise, and his mom Natalie were in attendance at the event. Read more about Justus and his fight with cancer at gundersenhealth.org/heroes.

Thirty local restaurants participated, serving up their best soups and love of football in support of children, like Justus, who are facing serious health challenges.

“This event gives our employees and local restaurants the chance to come together to make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community,” said Amy Fredricks, LHI Marketing Project Specialist and Souper Bowl event organizer.

To date, the annual employee-led event has raised more than $123,000.
